Location: Connecticut | I was watching the Grand Ol Opry last night and saw the band Sugarland perform with not one but two Ovation mandolins. On the first song the guy in the band was playing a CCB and then for the second song he switched to a special order -8 blue model. It was a real good feeling to see some O's on TV again and to know they were ones that I had worked on. It was also nice to be able to hear them and not just catch a quick glimpse of one in the background somewhere. Anyone else see them last night. Dave |

I would have loved to have seen them but the cable company I have has moved every thing I might like to the premium channels so it would cost me $20 or $30 a month to see Grand Ole Opry. I used to get it for free, and watched it every Saturday.

Location: NJ | Last week I was back in the Graphics Dept. waiting for something to come off one of the wide-format printers and picked up a magazine on somebody's desk (I think it was called "Blender"(?).
I was flipping through it and came across an article about the late "FunkMaster", Rick James(bitch!:-) There was a full-page b&w photo of Rick sitting outdoors strumming an Ovation.
It looked like an old, non-cutaway CBalladeer.
The guitar had the O pickup/preamp AND a magnetic soundhole-mounted pick-up. (???)
Don't know what was stranger to see . . . Rick James playing an acoustic . . . . or Rick James playing an Ovation . . . |
