Location: Canton (Detroit), MI | I was in my local Guitar Center last night and saw a couple of S771 Balladeers with TRUSS ROD COVERS, one spruce top, one cedar top. They also had a cedar top S771 WITHOUT a truss rod cover.
The salesman in the acoustic room happened to be an Ovation fan, and I mentioned it to him. We got both of them and checked them for neck weight; the cedar S771 with the truss rod cover had a lighter neck. It did NOT have a neck adjustment from through the sound hole. Looks to me like the lighter LX neck is starting to make its way into the non-LX guitars.
The model number on the label is the same as before, no mention of LX.
