I have not been back from the store an hour. I told myself I wasn't going to buy any Korean junk. But... Fell in love with the sound and feel of this thing. Love the color and was offered a descent, not spectacular, deal by the salesman.

I was going to get something off the net, but I think there is something to be said for having an "in" with the local music store.

My finger tips already hurt.

I had played a bit a number of years ago (MANY number of years ago) and wanted to get back into it. I looked at a lot of Ovations, would love to have an Elite or LX but could not have done justice to one. This way, I have something I can look forward to. An UPGRADE!

Anyway, just wanted to share and tell you that I am now a member in good standing.

Thanks,

Congrats. Nice looker. You'll catch GAS soon enough and then this'll make a great camp guitar. Enjoy it ... and stick around here and give us the periodic report.

Great looking piece of Korean junk!!! I've got a piece of that Korean crap that I could never get rid of! What I mean is that it looks great, sounds very nice, and feels WONDERFUL in my hands. I love this guitar. Although I am getting pretty attached to the new Al DiMeola CL that I just got... Congradulations on a beutiful guitar.

Actually the term used to be Jap-Crap. But then Japan started producing real quality and it moved to Korea. They make really good stuff now, and not just Ovations. Maybe the spoo producer lable has moved to China?

Alaska.....From one DiMeola dude to another, congradulations. I'm glad you finally got it. The way it waited on the shelf means you were distined to have it.

Brad- Thanks. That DiMeola is sooo fine! I just wish I could do it justice! I've only been playing for about 10 months so have no right to own a guitar like this at this stage. I guess I won't need to upgrade anytime soon. There was just "something" about that prticular guitar that "called" to me. I would go into the shop each week and play several acoustics (mostly Ovations), but everytime I picked this one back up, it just kind of melted into my hands like it belonged there. Now it does.
Take Care

Hi Skip,
congrats. I am planning on buying one of these too. I was holding out to find a nice used one, but might have to bite the bullet and pay for a new one. What did you pay? Just curious. I have seen them on special for like $480 or so. Seems like $500 to $580 is the standard street price for new ones.

I have been uncertain about them. The only thing I don't like is the neck shape. I like a thin neck a la Taylor but the CS257s I have seen have a neck that feels like a baseball bat. I don't get it.

Nice guitar, I am going to confess as I have before, that in 50 years of playing in parties and bars, bluegrass and country, where I was supposed to bow to the grail of Martin, Gibson, and Dobro, I have never owned one of them but played Japanese and Korean copies at many gigs where a $1000 guitar would probably invite somebody to follow you home with a knife. I'm still here and we always got lots of applause so don't pay any attention to the people who buy for collection value, a good guitar is a good guitar, PLAY NOW, COLLECT LATER.

After reading these posts I'm almost sorry I didn't pick up one on a recent bargain closout instead of hold out for the Elite LX 12 string. I don't know if I can hold out.
Sombody 'hep-me'!

TO be honest, I wasnt a fan of Ovation at first. I tried them a few years ago and did not care for them at all; I was all for Washburn. I was In California on an audition and stopped in one of the local music shops. I looked around seen the guitar and thought ahhh ok i'll give it another shot. Well needless to say it was the Celeb 257. I fell in love with it. I carried the guitar by my side the entire time I was in Ca. and even refused to let them put it in the cargo space on the plane for the ride home. I now also own the Adamas 1597, and m looking to add the New Q as soon as its available.
NO guitars have come close since falling in love with Ovation guitars. I have tried just about everything out there. It plays and sounds like a guitar should. I go by Styll and I paid for this message. :)
