hi folks,

I thought I've posted a topic with this theme here, but as I looked after it seemed that I've dreamt it ;)

So you all Ovation friends and fans, what do you think about that Josh Homme has made a new semi-accoustic model line called maton bb1200 with the shape of the good 'ol Ovation guitar???

Hello Germany, nice to hear from you

Remember, professional music is a way to make money, musicians have to live and pay bills just like the rest of us scum. Josh probably either said someting nice to somebody that ended up in an add, or he took an endorsement fee. Has anybody seen him playing one of these? His career was built on an Ovation solid body and, I, a Viper owner can understand how he could succeed with an Ovation solid body guitar, this endorsement is sorta like leaving the wife that put you through medical school, for the airhead night floor nurse who is shopping for a Doctor so she can go home and watch soap operas and drive a Mercedes.

Blond or Brunette? Both, Blonde on top, brunette on the bottom, if you know what I mean.

It's called a "Blondette". I know a lot about this.

Yes

There was a song written about it by, I think, Roy Orbison

"Blondette, pretty little pet blondette"

or was it Claudette?

It was Jerry Lee Lewis who liked all the little girls, cousins or not, wasn't it?

well, I'd say it's more the shape of the Maton Mastersound than the Ovation GP. But either way, they are both guitars he plays. I'd love to get my hands on one but they are saying it could fetch up to 4000 dollars? Even in Aussie dollars, that's way too much for me. I now have two Ovation GP's. One with the Dimarzio Super2's and the other with Korean knockoffs of the Super2's that Ovation installed in their later run of the GP's. They both sound more amazing than I thought I guitar could sound. I always wanted to get a Maton MS500 to see what that would do but they are pretty rare on ebay. I think unless the price for the Maton BB1200 becomes reasonable, I'll never know how good it is. Or maybe I can just wait for Josh to bust it out in concert. I wonder if he's using it for C tuning or standard. It seems he used Maton's primarily for songs in standard.

Either way, Josh has always said that his Ovation GP will be his main axe. He tries other guitars but only in moderation. He once said it's like drinking a beer. You have your favorite beer, and you occasionaly drink others, but you always end up going back to your favorite beer. And, from experience, I can understand why he sticks to the Ovation.

hi benjamin,

well I think I tested 12 ms500 and ms2000 and a couple of ms503 and ms502. they're definitely nice guitars and sound quiet good but they can't compare with the GP. you really can hear the difference between a glued-in hardwood body and a bolt-in guitar. also the pu's are more flat than the dp104's. don't understand me wrong you can't compare a gp with ms.
but when I look at other models maton made like the pm1 and the ge500, the new one's aren't that good.
