Figured Maple Viper
I didn't know there where any solid figured bodies made. My guess (since it is in pristene "Closet special" condition) is that someone made a body and ren-Ovated it.
If so, I like the way they think.
Edit - Just realized you have to stay on top to scoop Moody! |

Location: Las Cruces, NM | That sure looks Viper all the way, but it sure has an unusual finish. I have seen maple bodies with a natural finish and a normal grain pattern, anybody seen anything like this? It looks nice to me.

Location: Nova Scotia, Canada | Speaking of killer Vipers, here is an employee made Custom Viper III. Not totally sure if the wood is curly maple or burled walnut. The maple neck is as flamey as I've ever seen on any guitar.
Also, it has a stock brass nut like a UKII, abalone inlaid truss rod cover like the earliest Custom Legends, abalone inlay on the back to cover the adjustment hole from the earlier bridges, gold hardware and it is even a "two-knobber"...having wooden Adamas knobs for the vol/tone.
Did Johnny Cash ever work at Ovation??
