Location: Parkersburg, WV | I was glad to see the recent threads on nylon strings. Does anyone have any tips on quickly breaking in the nylon trebles? After every string change I have to deal with constantly tuning and retuning until the "stretch" breaks in. Wound strings are not a problem. Any tricks? Any brands/tensions that are less prone to this problem?

Location: SoCal | Live with it. Only change the bass strings regularly. Change the treble (nylon) about once a year. |

Location: So. Cal. | A lot of the slippage comes from the string posts and the bridge. I usually tie a knot where the string gets strung on the posts (where the tuning machines are); similarly tie a knot after looping the treble strings through the bridge. It seems to take a lot less time to stablize the tuning. It also goes out of tune by lesser amount. Just my personal experience. |

The knotting suggestion sounds good and will try this on my next string change. It seems the ball-end strings tend to slip more - probably due to the simple knot at the bridge end trying to settle into the ball housing.
