As soon as I find out which inlays is has, will order replacement from Miles. Is there anything I need to know about replacing the neck, tricks, tips, or just take the bolts out and put the replacement on? Thanks in advance noel

Apart from some early Breadwinners & Deacons most Ovation solidbodies had the necks bolted and glued in. So you may have to break the glue joint. It shouldn't be a problem, but it can take you by surprise when you remove the bolts and find the neck stays put.

If not using the glue, what about using Loctite on the bolts since they screw into an alum. plate? Not the permanent kind, but the removable kind? noel

I've never had the necks off my guitars, and never heard of that before. Was it just plain old white paper (like printer/Xerox paper) or something special? Was it left 'long' and then trimmed back or was it sized just for the pocket? I learned something new today, thanks!

They sometimes used EPOXY meaning you better be careful trying to separate a joint on an Ovation. Don't just knock on it and expect it to separate, consult with the factory as they have long, long memory of how things were assembled. Bailey (I have separated many joints in my time, some beer, some other)

Joined: September 2003 Posts: 782 Location: Waurika OK | UK II arrived today!! Headstock was indeed broken off, but rest body is in great condition, a little buckle rash on the back. The neck had already been taken off,it was loosly bolted back on. All gold plating in good shape except for upper bridge mounting stud, plating just worn off. Serial # is E followed with five digits. This guitar has a pickguard. The neck has rectangular inlays with each corner having a concave radius. Schaller bridge? Says made in Germany, Ovation cast into the end. Intonation screw adjustment faces pickup. Now,must get with Miles for that replacement neck. Oh, it is black. My family bought me a digital camera this year, if I figure out how to post pictures will do so when I get it completed. noel
