Also, have many of you tried the bone saddle version of the standard "O" pickup and what do you think of it?

Location: Scotland | The saddle on the older pickups is replaceable, but as far as I understand may not be on the currect version, check with Kim or John.
I have a bone version on my Custom Folklore, which is an incredible-sounding guitar, but like any guitar it's the sum of the parts, not down to a single factor. |

Location: puerto vallarta, mexico | has anyone tried changing the saddles on a ukII to plastic or bone. the brass saddles are the point at which all string failure occurs due to galvanic corrosion. i'm lucky to get 4-5 actual hours of playing time out of the high e and b strings. i have tried lots od bandaid solutions with limited success. kind of defeats the metal to metal contact the guitar has, but i almost have to change strings before a gig to be sure i wont break one. |

Location: 6 String Ranch | The bone saddles are for the original style pickup and yes they can be popped out and replaced. Be careful. I don't think there ever were any bones made for a UK2, just the nylon and they only fit the Ovation made bridge, not the Schaller. |

bill, how do you think the nylon saddles would affect the sound on a uk2? all of my uk's have bronze/brass saddles on both style bridges. i haven't seen one with nylon ones, but i almost snagged the ones from my breadwinner to try them. it became my synth guitar though and i wont mess with it now. would ovation still have those saddles?
thanks |
