Location: Columbus, OH | I played a friend's Adamas SMT and I liked the acoustic sound a lot better than my deep bowl Custom Legend. What's a good price for a used SMT in excellent condition? |

Location: Columbus, OH | I've done the Ebay check thing. I tend not to compare to the price of a new one but what does a new one go for? |

Location: Columbus, OH | Willard: I'd be interested in selling the Custom Legend. I just don't know if I'd get enough for it to make it worth selling. It had a finish crack on the top that was repaired by the factory before the guitar ever left Connecticut. I am the original owner. I love the gaudy inlay and it does sound great plugged in. But I'd like an Ovation that sounds closer to my solid wood guitars than the deep bowl custom legend.

Why would you think a SMT would be priced lower than a CVT? |

Because it is! What makes you think it isn't???
Just go to guitar center and check out ebay and you'll see the price difference.
The workmanship is the same. As far as I know, the only difference is in the soundboard. It takes a little more work, I think, to make the thin CVT top, than the SMT top. The SMT has a warmer sound due to the amount of wood. CVT more lively. Hard to describe sound, but try them! |
