hello everyone, I´m new here and this is my first question:
I have the chance of buying an Ovation Folklore 1614 and I want to know if I can put nylon strings on it, as it has "classical guitar like" tuners. I live in Argentina and there are not so many classical Ovations available, and buying through E-bay is not easy because of Custom taxes. Thanks in advance for your advice.

The Folklore is a steel string guitar & while it's perfectly possible to use nylon strings it's not a great idea. Better to hold out for an Ovation classical model. Back in January I bought 1613 with case on Ebay for $150. They can be had so cheaply that paying the import duty and sales tax is hardly an issue.

Gilberto,

Que paso con el 1614?

Did you make the deal or are you looking for a 1613?

Thank you for your interest Paul and John.
Sorry for the delay in answering but I didn´t enter the forum for a while.
I will follow the advice of Paul and wait for a "pure" nylon Ovation. I´ll tell you the news.Thx

You could get the 1614 but the tuning machines have smaller shafts and will make tuning harded. The classical guitars have fatter shafts and work better with the nylon strings.
Paul T has the best advice.
