I haven't received the instrument yet, so I can't give you definitive details on the repairs required. While I'm at it; is there a source for spare parts, other than the factory?

The top is not bellied up. The frets show some moderate wear. The question, at this point, is whether this is a local repair, or should be sent to The MotherShip for replacement. I will need some instruction, as to who to correspond with, if that is the case. Thanks!

The current, broken bridge has a 2 1/8" spacing, and 6 9/16 total width. Just in case I get REAL adventurous.......

You should be able to contact Ovation's customer service, but a bridge and have it put on by a local repair person. I don't know what pickup the guitar uses, but there are also several bridges for sale on ebay right now.

We will see what their response may be. Dangling participles; go with that one, too, Cliff. As I have found in Life; it's more a process than a destination. "It isn't completing the journey that's important; it's the stops you make along the way." And, the people you meet. Thanks, Guys!

I spent the better part of the weekend making jigs and fixtures to route out the rear portion of the broken bridge to graft on a replacement piece to hold the strings. I believe it will very functional, and shouldn't be too aesthetically gruesome. I will keep you posted.

They told me they were a distribution center, and to take my instrument to a local warranty center. The one local store they referred me to would not be my first choice, to be sure. Anyrate, I've gotten the offensive portion of the bridge milled off, and am proceeding with the fabrication of the graft with some nicely grained, and solid, black walnut. "No guts, no glory"

Joined: November 2002 Posts: 3666 Location: Pacific Northwest Inland Empire | Update. I'm ordering some real big magnets to use as clamps when I glue the graft on. It's the only thing I can determine will apply pressure to the joint, since there is no access through the soundboard. Actually, I could make a couple of long C-clamps to reach from the upper, larger holes in the epaulets, but I think the magnets will work out OK. Question: Will the magnets have any lasting, negative effect on the preamp, or should I remove it before the gluing repair? The piezo pickup is already removed.

Joined: November 2002 Posts: 3666 Location: Pacific Northwest Inland Empire | THANX, CLIFF!!!!! So, the device simply presses down on the top? It doesn't need to reach inside the body for clamping underneath the bridge? I suppose that's true, due to the robust nature of the Lyrachord bowl. So, now I can use all those magnets to fabricate & weld the illustrated clamping contraption. As my Old Man used to advise, "There's no substitute for the right tool." Once again, into the breach......

(The reason(s) I brought the camera with me on the Tour were: a ) To fully document as best as possible all that I/we saw. 2 ) To constantly have something in my hands to keep them occupied and not be touching/feeling/rubbing/hefting/tapping/scratching/thumping EVERYTHING that was within reach and having myself forcibly ejected from the premesis only to wait out in the bus pouting and dejected and having Al going "nyah, nyahnyah, nyah, nyah!" all the back to the hotel.

I obtained a new ovation bridge for my model from a guy on ebay, seller name "guitar garbage". A luthier then installed the bridge. That was a year ago and it shows no sign of pulling up.
