Yeah, OK, I'm lazy. I don't want to navigate the Mothership website. Do they service Korean models or just USA instruments? Also, speculation on costs and timeframe for a bridge repair? THANKS!!!!

Thanks, Paul! You remain the epitome of brevity and egalitarianism. I appreciate the info and will proceed from here. I haven't received the instrument yet, so I can't give you definitive details on the repairs required. While I'm at it; is there a source for spare parts, other than the factory?

I like to think of myself as concise.

Check with Al and Miles on spare parts. Probably more Miles, but Al can be a good source as well. Heck, this board and it's members are probably as good a source of parts as you will find anywhere.

Thanks, Paul...and you're right. I will correspond with our webmasters, in due course.

OK, the critter has arrived. It appears the portion of the bridge where the strings are held has sheared off. The top is not bellied up. The frets show some moderate wear. The question, at this point, is whether this is a local repair, or should be sent to The MotherShip for replacement. I will need some instruction, as to who to correspond with, if that is the case. Thanks!

OOPS! For clarity, it is a CC267, deep-body, Celebrity Deluxe 6-string, blond finish.

Since I'm carrying on this soliloquy and imminent fiasco, might I ask if Miles or Al have any spare bridges laying around? The current, broken bridge has a 2 1/8" spacing, and 6 9/16 total width. Just in case I get REAL adventurous.......

Some things you just end up doing yourself....

You should be able to contact Ovation's customer service, but a bridge and have it put on by a local repair person. I don't know what pickup the guitar uses, but there are also several bridges for sale on ebay right now.

Thanks, Paul, I have already "run the flag up the pole" (Yes, Cliff, that IS quite Freudian) at Ovation customer service. We will see what their response may be. Dangling participles; go with that one, too, Cliff. As I have found in Life; it's more a process than a destination. "It isn't completing the journey that's important; it's the stops you make along the way." And, the people you meet. Thanks, Guys!

That's true. It's important to remember that he who dies with the most toys is still dead.

Seesquare, I have a new USA bridge (non-pickup, standard acoustic saddle slot) you are welcome to it, if you need it.

Thanks, Paul. I will keep that in mind, should the current repair protocol be insufficient. I spent the better part of the weekend making jigs and fixtures to route out the rear portion of the broken bridge to graft on a replacement piece to hold the strings. I believe it will very functional, and shouldn't be too aesthetically gruesome. I will keep you posted.

I got a response from Customer Service. They told me they were a distribution center, and to take my instrument to a local warranty center. The one local store they referred me to would not be my first choice, to be sure. Anyrate, I've gotten the offensive portion of the bridge milled off, and am proceeding with the fabrication of the graft with some nicely grained, and solid, black walnut. "No guts, no glory"

Update. I'm ordering some real big magnets to use as clamps when I glue the graft on. It's the only thing I can determine will apply pressure to the joint, since there is no access through the soundboard. Actually, I could make a couple of long C-clamps to reach from the upper, larger holes in the epaulets, but I think the magnets will work out OK.
Question: Will the magnets have any lasting, negative effect on the preamp, or should I remove it before the gluing repair? The piezo pickup is already removed.

THANX, CLIFF!!!!! So, the device simply presses down on the top? It doesn't need to reach inside the body for clamping underneath the bridge? I suppose that's true, due to the robust nature of the Lyrachord bowl. So, now I can use all those magnets to fabricate & weld the illustrated clamping contraption. As my Old Man used to advise, "There's no substitute for the right tool." Once again, into the breach......

There very well COULD be something coming up from the "baseplate" and supporting the underside of the bridge via the opening when the "access hatch" is removed, but I don't know. (The reason(s) I brought the camera with me on the Tour were:

a ) To fully document as best as possible all that I/we saw.

2 ) To constantly have something in my hands to keep them occupied and not be touching/feeling/rubbing/hefting/tapping/scratching/thumping EVERYTHING that was within reach and having myself forcibly ejected from the premesis only to wait out in the bus pouting and dejected and having Al going "nyah, nyahnyah, nyah, nyah!" all the back to the hotel.

New member here but I thought I could help. The bridge on my Korean Ovation cracked then pulled loose from the body. I obtained a new ovation bridge for my model from a guy on ebay, seller name "guitar garbage". A luthier then installed the bridge. That was a year ago and it shows no sign of pulling up.

Thanks, Beachdog. The point now, is HOW to attach the bridge. My academic training is in social science, not engineering. I haven't figured out a method to convince my guitar of healing itself!
