Location: Caribou, ME | Hi all. Just joined the group. I've been buying, selling, trading guitars all my life. They come and go out of here so much, half the time I don't know what I've got. In the middle 80s I had a small guitar shop in my home. I took an early Applause in on trade. It sold a while later, to a teenager. Well, somehow the neck got broken (I'm sure by some despicable person on purpose). I bought it back for $5.00. I was able to buy a neck directly from Ovation, and then sold it AGAIN. A few weeks back I bought another early Ovation, a 1976 according to this site. It sparked interest in getting one for myself. I bought my first "real" Ovation, and it came in today. It's a 1990 Custom Legend, sunburst, model 1719, with all the abalone trim. I got it for $425. All I've done to it so far is oil the bridge and board, touch up a couple frets, and put new strings on. It came from Louisiana to Maine, and despite my perception of Ovations being less susceptible to climate changes, I'll let it acclimate for a few days before doing any more tweaking. It really is a striking instrument, and my first impression is very good. The action is VERY low. I like that, because I primarily play electric, and my fingers are spoiled! Anyway, I just wanted to introduce myself, and let it be known that I'm proud to be an Ovation owner. Please check out my home page. You'll see I have a genuine love for instruments, and I can ramble on about them. |
