I was pretty much bummed out to report my last "O" sighting as being David Koresh in an old video tape. However, I found hope in the younger generation tonight, when I worked the local high school Battle of the Bands concert. A kid accompanied a young lady on a Jewel number, playing an Ovation Legend. He told me later that it actually belongs to his mom and is about 26 years old. He chose it over his Gibson to do the gig.

I visited the Tempe AZ Guitar Center yesterday. In the wood room they had 3 cc57, 2 cc247, 2 shallow balladeers, 1 mid balladeer, 1 balladeeer 12 string and 1 custom legend. I was mildly impressed at the nice USA/Korea ratio. All of them had the standard Ovation booklet hangtag, but no details of features and benefits. I played dumb (easy for me to do) and asked the salesman a question - What is the difference between the $400 celebrity acoustic and the $1500 custom legend? I was informed that "They are basically the same guitar, just that the custom legend is a bit more fancy and comes with a nicer case."

Be kind. Their prices on strings are pretty good.

I stoped in on my local GC on Friday night. I asked for info On any Adamas... I've done this before. He checked again and... He took my name and number and is calling the "company" on Monday to get info. This is a new store and they have nothing on Ovation. I've got to know the asst. Mgr. and have filled him in on my... Let's just say he knows he has an Ovation fan / nut that comes in often.
As posted before GC is promoting in a large pic spread on the Custom Legend... They had one hanging. No tags. No info on the guitar.

I guess I was lucky in the local GC... they had about 10 O's, maybe 4 of them were Celebs. There was a 2002 Collectors and an Adamas CVT on the wall. Only problem was the salesman would tell anybody that walked by that Taylors were head and shoulders above any other guitar in the store.
