Location: Back in the Valley of the Sun Mesa Az. | I will say, you're probably better off picking up a good instrumental mic than a soundhole/magnetic pickup. If you go with a soundhole pick-up, I've tried several, and the old Lawerence pick-up that has been around for ever, seems to work best (not great) in my deep-bowl Legend. Get one with the volume control, they cost around $35.00. If you want to spend some money, I've heard the Fishman Rare Earth soundhole pick-ups (around $125.00) work well, but are intended to be installed permanently (running a line out the end pin).
At the advice of another board member, I use the Lawerence pick-up along with a mic. sometimes, and I'm happy with the sound I get. I do this with my 12 string, but not with my Legend. I have noticed that most soundhole pick-ups are made to fit a standard sound hole, and with the thicker rosette of my Legend, they don't fit well.
Good luck, I hope this may help in some small way.
