Just got the latest musiciansfriend catalog and apparently its "Graphite top delivers big acoustic tone from a little electric body". Only bringing it up because I nearly had my brother talked into an american elite. Being a Fender man, he'll surely be sucked in. Also, didn't MF claim the Eilte T was made out of space age polymers or something ridiculous. Is it really graphite? Personally, I think my Elite T would kick the crap out of it in a fight and sound better while doing it.

Their sound leaves a lot to be desired ... even a low-end Celebrity has much better sound. Get your bro down to a Guitar Center and have him play them head-to-head with the Ovations ... no contest and your Elite will not have to be kicking and a' gouging in the mud and the blood and the beer.

And it sounds like CRAP! I am not sure what the material is that the back is made of, but it is one terrible sounding guitar....Paul Hebert

He picked up a Celeb the day after he sold it and was much more pleased with his purchase the second go round. Patrick

I was just refering to the P.O.S. verisons of the acoustic strats and teles. I've never hear or seen one of these. I thumbed through my musicians friend and found it as well. Patrick

It'll be interesting to see what the Acoustasonic sounds like. It looks like graphite tops are becoming all the rage and poses an interesting dilemma for Ovation ... do they stay at the top end and assume the position of expensive elder statesman or will they put the adamas-style top into mass production in Korea and try to capture the "affordable" market ...

I told the salesman that everyone made fun of Ovation for the composite back, now it seems everyone and their mother-in-law is making one. I just got a blank stare. The stratacoustic is riding on the reputation of the stratocaster......nothing more. bd
