I've owned a nice 6-string Ovation for about 12 years now and never gave any thought to the model or serial number--it just sounded nice and that was all that mattered. Well, I came poking around this site and that got me interested in finding out more about what it is I've been playing all these years!

However, once I found out where the serial number is supposed to be, I looked for the sticker and it is no longer in the guitar. The guitar shop is long gone (Guliano's Custom Guitars in White Plains, NY), so I can't contact them--as if a mom and pop shop would have records of a guitar they sold 12 years ago anyway. So I really am stumped.

Can anyone help me identify at least what model it is? I bought it in March 1991, but I am 98 percent sure that it was used when I got it (unless they sold me a new guitar in a used case). If anyone wants to volunteer their knowledge, I can email you photos of any parts you think would help identify it. Any help from anyone on this would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome to our board, if you can post a photo of your Ovation there are probably people here that can tell you the day it came off the assembly line.

You've got an Elite supershallow bowl model 1868. I would guess that it was made in the mid to late 1980's. Great guitar.
