But to enlarge upon it, someone asked about me shipping a Guitar to Canada by USPS.
I gave him a tentative answer while I am waiting for his Postal Code.
The size limitations that I have found are ambiguous.
So, Any info would be appreciated.
A standard 26 pound package, 10 day delivery is $56... That is acceptable.
The next price point is way over $100 and that ain't happening!

Location: CA | I had an inquiry for shipping a guitar I'm current auctioning on eBay (#250297213394 in case you' were wondering) to England. Since the online UPS and USPS sites never agree with what you're actually charged AT the post office or by UPS, I took the guitar (in its case) into our local 'UPS Store'. Including packing (a box and foam peanuts) and $10 worth of insurance, I was quoted about $75 to anywhere in the lower 48, and . . . more than $500 to ship to England! What?
I informed the interested party of this (an OFC regular) and he responded that he had had several guitars shipped to him from the U.S. for $80-$150, which sounded much more reasonable.
Of course none of this answers the question you asked. But just letting you know that 1) When you get to something as big as a guitar, the 'dimensional weight' (oversize) sometimes supercedes the actual weight, and you are charged more accordingly. 2) There are alternatives to USPS and UPS. I find my least expensive in-country option is DHL. The last guitar I shipped with them maybe six months ago was a bit more than $40. That's with me doing the packing job. |

Sounds about right. I bring in lots of car parts from the US to Canada which parts are small but heavy and the shipping cost are negligible. |

Figure 54" x 20" x 10".... I have no idea what this is in centimeters.
Also that is a bit large, but I would rather guess big and be surprised that guess small and be disappointed. |

Location: Central Massachusetts | OMA, I just shipped a guitar to Phil in BC via USPS. UPS was insanely expensive.
Rules for USPS to Canada are Length+Girth must be 108" or less.
Length is the longest side. Girth is all four remaining sides added together.
For the guitar box I shipped (not Ovation) I needed to shorten it by 2 inches.
Came out to about $40 bucks to ship from Portland to Campbell River.

This guy expressed interest in my 1718, and I am still waiting for his P-code.
I am offering free Fed Ex shipping to the 48, and what I saw looked okay on UPSP site, except they ain't to clear on sizes. As a matter-of-fact, the international calculator didn't even asks what size the box was... So I got paranoid.
Oh yeah... Fed Ex wanted $212 to Toronto! :mad: (I just picked a city and got an estimate) |

I dunno Arthur I just bring in heavy stuff in small boxes mostly and I don't really think twice about the shipping costs through UPS because even with brokerage it's still cheaper that buying the stuff here.
If it was something really heavy like a motor I'd have it shipped by truck to a bonded warehouse.
A lot of people use USPS for small stuff to avoid brokerage but it sounds like you're getting nailed more on volume rather than weight. |

I'd have to look for the receipts but like I said before the costs are not remarkable so I don't even keep track of them. |

If the guitar is in a case make the box as short as you can.
Space is good but the "Shipper's" are on to us and they don't like us very much.
My guess would be about $50 to Canadia. More to French Canadia.
A lot more to Nova Scotia. |

Location: Central Massachusetts | USPS Priority International to Canada is priced purely on weight, as long as the dimensions are under the 108" Length plus girth. That's for 5-10 business days.
Rates by weight are here . Canada is price group one in the table. Price should be the same whether you're shipping to Vancouver or Toronto or wherever.
The guitar I shipped was 16 pounds, therefore $39.70. I shipped it on 09/11 and it arrived 09/17, so that was only 5 business days. |
