It's blue, but I was wondering if it is worth disassembling and refinishing in natural. For all I know it could be made up of laminated 2x4's Does anyone know what wood they used for this animal?

I think we've established that this is a pretty open-minded group about guitars in general...with a distinct leaning towards Ovations and away from a couple specific over-hyped brands. That said, I like my little Mexi-strat in all-occasion black. Makes me look thinner!

I have a recent CIJ '62 reissue with a body made of basswood, and the sound is fine...there is no issue with the wood type. Strat bodies are often picked to be painted at the factory because the wood isn't attractive...but, hey, give it a try! Roger

Stripped and sanded it down to find a decent piece of walnut which I then hand rubbed with Linseed Oil. Now it looks like a cheap Russian knockoff of an AK-47, but believe me...much better than what I thought would be under there. Maybe I will spray paint it in a camo color at some point. You can always re-paint it (maybe in a camo scheme like my MAK-90)?

(shades of SG?) Anyhow, it's all disassembled now, (it didn't take long) and I will start on it tomorrow on lunch. (who needs to eat) I really liked the link to the decopauge' project, but thats a litle much for me. Lizard fur???
