Joined: August 2003 Posts: 396 | Wow. Trouble in paradise. I don't know the gentleman booted, nor do I know the entire story, but I don't like the idea of it. I also don't like the idea of threads and polls being closed so it cannot be discussed. It gives the aroma of favoritism of one dealer over another even if it's not true. Are there droves of forumites complaining about this gentleman? I recall seeing several very positive references to him. I, for one, would like to know exactly what he did that got him tossed because this is my favorite website and I'd hate to think that all of this is as petty as it sounds. Closing threads because you don't like what people mAY say later is not the way this forum has functioned in the past, and it really gives a poor impression that someone is afraid of what might come out or is trying to hide something. I wouldn't believe this of our moderator but the closing of threads and polls really looks bad. Let's get this out in the open. I've seen the comments of the now departed and NOTHING I've seen has led me to the conclusion that would get this guy booted. Once again, I've never had ANY contact with this guy whatsoever. Perhaps, I missed something because I'm not reading items constantly, but I'd like to see this resolved with this gentleman back. This is not a condemnation of anyone or anything, accept for the closing of threads and polls to blockade conversation.

Joined: January 2005 Posts: 4903 Location: Phoenix AZ | I'm not even going to try to summarize or debate this. But I'll offer the following small reply to Englishplayer and others (just my opinion, of course) ... I suspect that we members are only seeing a small part (the public part) of what's going on behind the scenes, in private emails, PM's, phone calls, etc. It's not a question of who's right and wrong, who's good and bad, etc. etc. The moderators have an obligation to police this board in a way that benefits the OFC as a whole. This includes policing members who post inflamatory remarks, obscene comments, personal attacks, political or relegious agendas, etc. Basically any out of bounds behavior that threatens the integrity and continued prosperity of this wonderful place. We may not all and always agree with the fine details. But I would hope that we all do agree with the basic premise that we are all brothers here, should all play by the rules, be kind, etc. Incidents will occasionally require the moderators to step in. But I am very confident that closing threads or banning members is NOT their first form of corrective action. But rather a final result when all else has failed. Let's learn from this and move on ... As far as I know, only 2 threads were locked. this included one that posted PRIVATE e mails and email addresses of individuals without their permission. For the record, I had NOTHING to do with the banning of anyone. That decision was made by Miles. I have not communicated with GregoryS for months.
