Location: CT | Just saw this on instrument exchange. You can see the bracing pattern right thru the top. What's up with that? Has anyone experienced this? Are the braces pushing up on the top to the extent its spreading the finish? I'm agog.

The fact that you can see the bracing is a testament to this engineering, artistic, and musical marvel. The top is so thin you can see the bracing, yet it is sturdy enough to vibrate out the best of tone without disintegrating. But, at the same time... YUCH!!! you can see the bracing!!! |

Location: NJ | It's also quite possible too that the flash of the camera is refracting through the finish and enhances the way the braces deviate the top. It may be quite different in normal lighting conditions with the naked eye. I've seen it before. |

Location: Tracy, CA | I bought a 12 string Elite with the bracing pattern just like that. I call them ripples. It was discussed in a previous post Rippled top? with pictures. The wood top is very thin. I have been very happy with the guitar. It's kinda cool looking...

I think the finish, at times, makes it more appearent than natural finishes. If I look hard I can see it on my FD14 as well. |

I'm guessing but I think the reason some do and some don't is attributed to the actual wood grain and the finish. Remember, these guitars (the USA ones) are hand finished. No two are "exactly" alike. |

I call it VPL and find it it almost as alluring and arousing too!! :D |
