I'm no expert so please tell me, does having two monitors and two IE sessions running at the same time slow down response? I usually open one IE with the OFC board. If it's slow I open another IE on the other monitor and watch streaming porn videos. I don't think the connection is slowed at all because as near as I can tell the video action is real time. Of course being almost 50, that kind of action at ANY speed looks vaguely normal. Anyway, am I unintentionally doing something to slow down my own system? Dave

I posted on a previous thread offering my services to identify the causes of the performance issues and take it up with your hosting company. Web hosting is a service oriented market and far from rocket science. The hosting companies not providing adequate service levels loose business to the other companies.

You have a site problem? Don't take it out on me... I have offered to help fix it.

my sincerest apologies. I never saw that post where you offered your help. did you contact Miles? he is the one doing the "IT " stuff.
perhaps you can make a log of
user
isp
browser
and time when they experience trouble.
this way Miles will have some hard evidence to present to the hosting company.
Post your e mail address and have members e you with their information and when they were experienceing difficulty.

thanks

Greg;

Don't let Witko fool you . . .

. . . he just opens that 2nd IE session so that it'll slow down the streaming and he can watch the porn videos in slow-mo . . .

I have to chime-in here and say that lately (as late as the last three hours) the site is infuriatingly FUCKED UP. Really.

Miles is looking into alternative web hosting. As you all know the more members we get and the more bandwidth we use the slower the site will be. Hopefully a move to a different company will help the situation. I will keep you posted.

I agree the situation is untolerable.

Jeff, switch to herbal tea. I recommend chamomile.

If I wanted advice from a laid-back Canadian, I'd ask, John Candy.

As Alex said, I'm looking into moving to a new company. It's a hard decision to make because I have been with this one for many years and have about 14 sites hosted by them. But, while I hear of incidents from colleagues and friends of lost data, service not available, horrid customer support, lack of features... I have not lost any data, have great customer service, and all the features I need. It's not really a money thing, it's right service for right job. You can have a ton of features that you don't need for $10 a month, or you could have almost no features for $100 or more a month. Anyway, I think I found the host I will use as I use this one elsewhere. They are reliable and fast and have all the services we need. The transition should be pretty seamless as I have moved at least one site from our current host to these people in the past.

Because I've had the same troubles with my own website in the past, I know how hard it is to find a good host.
I've found a good solution even if it's a little bit expensive...
It doesn't really matter the speed of the OFC website for me and I will always be there because it's at my own opinion the best place in the world for O's fans!!!

Thanks one more time for Al's and Mile's efforts to give us such possibilities to have such a great place to share our passion.

J :)

For some days now, the site is faster, and it works ok for me now. Is it the same for you ? I suppose Al and/or Miles fixed the problem.
