Heck, I can't even come up with a title of any Air Supply song! I wouldn't even classify them as rock much less wimp rock. But what I know.....My memory is a little foggy from that era, Rock-n-Roll was the place to be! Although I was dabbling in Country Rock music a little in the early eighties as well :)

Rick, my point exactly. It was amazing to see Graham Russell performing Pete Townshendish moves to music that you would never think of as rock (wimp or otherwise) but it actually worked and looked pretty cool.

I think the fact that they had a young rockin band probably helped the overall sound as they were the only two old farts on the stage.

but as Bill aptly pointed out, you can have chessy songs and still put out a professional kick ass show.

Not that I disagree with Mr T and Bill ('cause I really don't) but I also have to strongly agree with JW (just 'cause I'm a guy).

The two opinions can co-exist is all I'm sayin'.

Poor Stephen. Hey bud, you set yourself up for the Air Supply comments with this gang. The last time I heard them was in an elevator. Rock?

Just goes to show you, the 80's are still alive and kicking, whether we like it or not.

On another topic, I heard that Journey and Def Leopard were in concert this year...and bright multicolored tights and ruffles are in fashion...

This speaks to the major problem in the world today - no one has an original idea. EVERYTHING is a remake, sequel, spin-off, and so on. Even Ovation is "reissuing" their greatest instruments (not bad-mouthing here, just an example).

At last year's superbowl (which was kind of a joke anyway) we were entertained(?) by the Stones, acting VERY 'stoned' indeed, while Mick Jagger took his clothes off...

Top movies for this year included X-men 3, Pirates of the Caribbean 2, Scary Movie 4 (one has to question why), and I've heard of plans for Indiana Jones 4 and Rocky 6...

If that wasn't enough, a few weeks ago, the Number 1 Country song in the nation was "Who Says You Can't Go Home?" by none other than John Bon Jovi...

Is anyone else confused?

I always thought Air Supply got a bad rap, as did Manilow, ABBA and a host of other acts that were not dangerous or cool, but could sell a lot of records. And one must admit, they were in the business of selling records. The term "artist" in that business is a misnomer. I'd say these guys did their job.
