It has a few battle scars but (hopefully) nothing structural. Wow, it takes time to re-string a 12-string slothead! From the serial no it was made in '79. I have lots of questions - which I will put into words in the next few days.

What are they called, what do they do, and the loose one fit better when both are in place. They are visible on the great photos in this post (lucky guy, finding a '79 in mint condition) http://www.ovationfanclub.com/cgi-bin/ubb/non-cgi/ultimatebb.php?ub...

That way you will be sure that they match. Mine don't have under-the-saddle pick-up, so I was thinking of the bridge bolt plugs. (which mine don't have anymore either... :rolleyes: )

Which is it? In any case, in your contact with John or Kim Email them a pic of what you're talking about. Emailing pics to them is clearer than a lot of verbal description. John <>{

There's no sign of movement between the headstock and neck and it stays in tune OK. Also posted a pic of the bridge showing the missing Black Thingy on the right.

Without the OFC, I might never have bought this, my first genuine Ovation, my first solid top acoustic and my first 12-string! I'm worried I have G.A.S. though Other questions: From the online owners manual, the action is at around the maximum and neck adjustment looks OK, However the action seems super-low for me. Would I be OK to raise it using factory shims? (Haven't checked if any are fitted already)
