I'am owning 12 string Ovation Legend 1756 in natural finish, which was made in 1986.The deep bowl bodies are amazing. So now I'm willing to buy another 12 string deep bowl, it could be 1758 Elite model,Legend Elite 1736 or any other deep bowl Elite Series, preferably in black finish. So, if somebody wants to sell it for a reasonable price, please let me know, I will consider any offer. Or I really appreciate any help with the information about specialized places where I can buy one.

Good luck in your search and, despite what most of us believe at this point in the year, Spring IS coming...

Of course, Adamas 12 is gorgeous without a doubt, but its a little bit out of my budget. What do u guys think about buying the guitar that needs a serious repair? I found 12 string Elite 1758 on http://www.rocknrollvintage.com/proddetail.asp?prod=Ovation-1758-12... The headstock is cracked and missing it's corner. See the pictures below

I did some search and found another deal on http://www.mygear.com/items/view/33486/false/1993+OVATION+ELITE+175... There is a crack in the wood very close to the bridge? What do u think about it?

Many times such a "crack" is only in the finish, which doesn't affect the guitar structurally, only aesthetically. There's a technique describe in the FAQ to fill in/hide such finish checks. I have a similar guitar, 1538, the immediate precursor to these ( here it is in action ). Stonking great guitar, loud, balanced, easy action, comfortable neck profile, and just about the most stable 12-string guitar made, as are all Ovations. The only better, and by that I mean stability and gig-worthiness, IMO is an Adamas 12-string. These 1758s come up not too infrequently, and $600-700 is a fair price for one in very good to excellent condition. Keep looking, you'll find one soon, and good luck.

The guitar was left in the cold for a long time and as result this crack... Very difficult to neglect this fact) Thanks G8r, I'm doing my best in the search... I have never seen 12 string Ovation Legend Elite 1736? Does it exist? Or its only the part of history on www.ovationguitars.com?

The differences between the 1736 and the 1758 (introduced in 1985) are that the 1758 has a resin-impregnated walnut fingerboard (like Adamas guitars) versus rosewood on the 1736; the 1758 had AA grade spruce tops, while the 1736 were just described as spruce (no grade given); and the 1758 had gold tuning machines versus chrome on the 1736. Given a choice between the 2, I'd opt for the 1758, especially if the prices were comparable.

In this case, 1758 is absolutely a better choice)Thanks I noticed that early models of O have blue sticker inside, while others that were manufactured after 1988 have white sticker with New-Hartford Ovation plant on it. Personally, my Legend has a blue one and it was made in 1986...

And with only a single, face-on picture, how can you tell what the bowl depth might be? The case, if original, would indicate a deep bowl, too. Cases for SSBs have the sky-blue plush lining.

Joined: February 2011 Posts: 23 Location: Rochester, NY | I apologize,I was out of the city this weekend and didn't have full access to participate in the discussion. Thanks for good postings on e-bay. Concerning Natural 1758. I've already contacted the seller. They explained me that the guitar was left in the cold for a while, as a result the crack is in the wood but not in the finish.I have few pictures of the crack that they provided to me. I will upload them to my profile page on ovationfanclub.ning.com. Also if you click on more pictures at the bottom of the posting on e-bay, it automatically redirects you to the seller's official web-site, where there are few pictures of the guitar http://www.vintagecityguitars.com/guitars/view/1854 To Alison, I keep in mind that. But the problem is that I'm waiting for a response from another member who has black Elite 1758. Because initially this is what I exactly want.

Joined: February 2011 Posts: 23 Location: Rochester, NY | Good news!!! I ordered 12 string black Ovation Elite 1758 from used gear at Guitar Center. Plus I got a 15% discount for President's Day!!! According to the pictures it's in a really good shape... But the guitar doesn't come with a case, previous owner decided to keep it... Guitar Center guys promised me to pack the guitar very carefully, but still I'm afraid that it could be damaged during the shipping ;( I also opened a new topic in FOR SALE section. If somebody has one, please let me know...
