Joined: May 2006 Posts: 4236 Location: Steeler Nation, Hudson Valley Contingent | Here we go again! I have a BEAUTIFUL Ovation 1619 burst-finish Custom Legend that needs to move so I can send the factory yet more moolah. The serial number is 336198 dating this guitar to 1985-86, and it is as stunning as you could ask it to be with the added benefit that it sounds exactly like it looks. The tone is just gorgeous; full and well balanced with strong midrange. I’ve put new D’addario mediums on it and it can flat-out fill a room. Plug it in and of course, it being an Ovation, it’s a monster. This is one of the best stage guitars on the planet…PERIOD! I’ve put a new battery in as well and the stacked tone/volume pre-amp sounds hot and clear! Here are Ovations specs: the top is hand-selected Solid Sitka Spruce with Hand Inlaid Abalone around the whole edge! A couple of technical details include Ovation A bracing, a scale length of 25 ¼”, and a nutwidth of 1 11/16”. The fretboard is bound ebony and the CARVED bridge is a nice, deep walnut. The tuning machines are 24K Gold Schallers with pearloid buttons. The guitar does show some wear after 25 years of use. It has some pick-scratching that a good buffing will improve considerably, a couple of dings on the lower bout (see pictures), a very small finish crack (measuring ¾ inch) that comes out from the soundhole at an angle near the fretboard (again, see pictures), and some slight scratches that obviously come from the regular use of a guitar stand. I had to take pictures of this guitar twice to get photos of the finish blemishes. From a few feet away, they simply disappear. They are all PURELY cosmetic, and structurally, this thing seems fit as a…well…you know. The soundboard is fine and flat. The bridge is secure. The neck is straight. There is only minor fret wear. And the action is just plain SWEET! This thing is set up seriously low with no buzz at all. I comes with its original hardshell case, which is in overall good condition. The exterior shows plenty of use and a small crack (again with the pictures). The interior is spotless. It closes tightly and, aside from a little corrosion, all hinges and latches are fine. I’d like $750 shipped in the continental U.S., but I’m willing to take offers as well. International folks need to check for a shipping price first. (And try not to have a heart attack when I get back to you with a quote. The shipping companies have gone nuts it seems.) There are a few more pictures on my ning site at this link: 1619 Custom Legend Photos Again, this is a top-of-the-line, professional instrument. It looks fantastic and sounds the same. This is the kind of guitar that others see and go “WOW! That’s a NICE guitar!” This has to go to the ‘Bay pretty soon, but I will gladly end the auction early for an OFC’er. (Which would have the added benefit of resulting in a donation to help Al and Miles with the costs of maintaining this runaway lark of theirs.) Let me know what you think. And of course feel free to ask questions. I look forward to hearing from you. ![]()

Ebay Ad Are you all sure no one wants to save me the eBay fees and simultaneously get a really nice guitar at a good price? Huh? Anybody? :)
