Joined: August 2002 Posts: 642 Location: Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA | Hi, Everyone! Mike Seguin from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. I'm a junior member and a newbie here. I have mint-condition 1990 Ovation Elite Deep Bowl Cutaway 1778-4(Natural) for sale/or trade/retrofit. I have had some bites here at OFC, thanks to flysig, and 45flint. I still may have a buyer in Canada(my niece). I was thinking if I cannot sell or trade the Elite, that a retrofit might be feasible, but I don't know how to do this from Canada. I'm asking $750.00 CDN ,w/OHSC, and accessories. I'm not sure how that converts to U.S. funds. I'm looking for a md-depth, Elite-style guitar, such as the 1993-2003 Collectors, or the LX Series. Can anyone give me advice about posting guitar pics, shippiping guitars for sale/trade, or a retrofit at some point? There's alot to learn here, because I've never done something this complicated on the internet before. Thanks in advance for the help. God Bless You, Mike Seguin

Just wondering if it was a typo or if my memory is failing me. Best of luck with the sale and finding the Ovation of your dreams.

I do have photographic memory, and I should know my own guitar. Now where is that little greamlin sign for being "embarrased" when you need it? Oops. My bad. My guitar is indeed a 1990 Elite Deep bowl Cutaway 1768-4(Natural Finish). Wow. The people in this club are really sharp! God Bless You, Mike Seguin

I'm hoping to get a mid-depth guitar, so flysig's and 45 flint's caught my eye. Nothing has transpired here in Ottawa, as my niece is not interested in buying it now. I would try a retrofit as a last resort, but I don't know how to do that from Canada. I may have to keep it posted for a while yet, and I will probably touch base again with flysig and 45 flint at some point. When I do dance like nobody's watching, it ain't pretty. When I don't dance, I do play in the band. God Bless You, Mike Seguin mikegtr@sympatico.ca

Joined: August 2002 Posts: 642 Location: Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA | Hi, Mike! Mike Seguin from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, here. Please forgive the delayed reply. Yes, by retrofit, I do mean sending it to the Ovation factory. I see here at OFC some of you have already done that with your guitars, but as I said, I have no idea how to that from Canada. Is it really a good move to do a retrofit, or is it done as last resort, like I indicated before. 45 flint mentioned the possibility? of a trade, but don't know how to do that either, because I've never done this kind of thing before. That's why I contacted the OFC. It's not going to be easy for me to part with the guitar, and your members are mostly? all from the U.S., so I am assuming shipping/trading in the lower 48 is easier for you. I'm not complaining, just saying my say, and the members that I have contacted have been extremely helpful thus far. (Which is great for me, because I am still just a newbie here, after all.) And just so everyone knows, Mike, I am very proud of what you are/were doing in Afghanistan. One of my former guitar students is now serving with the Canadian Forces as helicopter door-gunner in Khandahar Province. My elder brother was in the Special Forces(Green Beret)in Vietnam,('72-74) My ancestor were all soldiers. My thought and prayers are with you. Thanks for the question. God bless You, Mike Seguin

Joined: December 2006 Posts: 6268 Location: Florida Central Gulf Coast | Mike S, Just so we're all on the same page... I take it you're lookin' for a mid-bowl and selling your deep-bowl. Or, if that fails, you want to send your git to the MotherShip for a new mid-bowl. Is this correct? Or does your git require more attention, i.e. neck reset, frets, etc. The first option is probably the best way to go. Although it may take some time and patience, you'll get more 'bang for your buck'. The second option will cost ya some bucks that you may not want to part with. That's your call. If your git needs additional attention, then you're up against the sale/trade value wall. In the last two options, you will basically get a 'like new' git back from the MS. Hope this helps ya. Let us know if I'm incorrect. We're more than willing to help ya $pent your money! ![]() Good luck! ![]()

Joined: August 2002 Posts: 642 Location: Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA | Hi, Iffy! Mike Seguin here. Thanks for the quick reply, and the info. Like I said, the OFC people are really sharp, and you certainly are on your toes. I did not expect a reply this quickly. We are all on the same page up to a point, Iffy. Here's the sit rep thus far on my guitar. I had 2 possible buyers in CANADA, before I posted my ad here on the OFC site. One of them declined before I posted my ad on the site, and the other one, my niece, declined after I posted my ad, which I already indicated in an update to the OFC. So the door is closed on buyers in CANADA, at least at this point. I have had no offers to buy my guitar here on the OFC site, because I only posted the ad very recently. I posted pics of me with my guitar on the NING site, and got a nice compliment from stonebobbo. Still, no buyers thus far. I have, however, been offered the possibility? of a trade by a member on the OFC site, which I am still mulling over, because I need MORE INFORMATION on how trades are done here. What is involved in making a trade? The possibility of a trade for my guitar is the best option I have come across on the OFC site so far, IMOHO. Costs in shipping, etc., are a big factor from my situation in Canada. The retrofit would be an absolute last resort for me, if the guitar does not sell, or get traded here on the OFC site, even though it would only involve changing the bowl, and updating the electronics. Again, shipping costs are a factor from where I`m situated in Canada.(And going into Ovation withdrawl for 2 months is probably not pretty?!) I still need MORE INFORMATION on how a retrofit is done. Is there some kind of procedure for that, too? To quote flysig, "What would Jefferson do?" Thanks for all your support thus far, and your continued help in advance. Did I mess up your head yet, Iffy? Mine is now, because there is no spellcheck here. God Bless You, Mike Seguin Junior Member #449 e-mail: mikegtr@sympatico.ca

It's not a big deal, just contact Ovation Customer Service (emails are on the Ovation website), they will issue you a number (i can't remember the correct term for it), you pack up your guitar and send it off. The last time I shipped a guitar, it cost around $65 each way. I'm in Northern Ontario, so if anything your cost may be less. Easy as cake!
