A month ago, this minty Eclipse went for $405. I had bid an early $95, and forgot to get back to it, with only passing interest in this type guitar. Might have stashed it away for eventual gain.

So, this guitar is now listed for $1999!

I guess a guy can ask anything they want, doesn't mean someone will pay it. Maybe I'll put my 1973 Ford Maverick in the paper as a classic muscle car and ask 100,000 for it. What do you think? It might work.

I had a '73 Maverick too, Dave! Bought it as a winter rat and, once I put the old box stereo speakers on the back dash, I had it made. Couldn't keep a body on it (here in the NE that's a tough thing to accomplish) but that engine wouldn't die. Three speed on the column...man, I loved that old beater. Gave it to my brother for his birthday one year (he was going away to college) and never saw it again. I'd bet he traded it for a 12 pack or something.

Gotta love the mighty Mavericks, mine broke every friday like clockwork. I actually had 2, a 72 6 banger, and a 73 with a v8. I'm a glutton for punishment.

My inlaws had one, gold, 2 door 6 w/an automatic and vinyl seats. It was suprisingly rust free for a Minnesota car. Anyways he has lowered his asking price $500 What a Deal, LOL. At least took his own pictures.

Regardless of price, this one looks to be in fantastic condition. If someone was looking for one of these to add to a collection and money was no object ...

It is a beautiful guitar, no doubt about it. He just relisted it at 1199, I guess no one was interested at the 2000 price point.

Yeah, and he had listed it for a day or two at $1499. At $2000, he was about 20 years early, So, maybe now he's just 12 years off.

I went back and forth a few times on e-mail with this guy and he lowered the price to 450.00. For that price, I'll take it and play it a bit...besides, it's black, so it matches the rest of mine!

Wow. Good luck, GregoryS. I hope no one works the price into the goofy zone. So, what insights did you gain about wd8y's attempts at instant and grand profit?

No real insight...just one of those guys who thought that he had found a real steal when he bought it. He's a nice guy, just not real knowledgeable on guitars in general and Ovation in particular...I'm looking forward to playing it :)
