I'm waiting for the last minute to pull the trigger. You guys know I'm a big spender, and wouldn't let a trivial price tag likr 35 G scare me off.

This is what I know. I worked with John Denver from 1975-1985. In 1980 I became his tour road manager. It was then that he began using Ovation guitars on stage because of their durability and mostly because of their electronics. He used a matching set six string and twelve string Ovations on stage during this period. I have a picture of JD on stage playing the six string (matching headstock, bridge, etc.) but was unable to find a photo of him with the twelve string in my archives. If you look closely at the photo of the detail of the face of the guitar, you will see that part of the pick guard is missing on the lower side. He broke this piece off during a show and we replaced this twelve string with a new one. That is the reason that I was given the guitar. Whenever we were filming a TV special, JD always used his Guild guitars, so there is no video of him with the Ovations in these types of stituations. Hope this helps.

He played them as stated above. He was pretty good, certainly made his mark in the music scene and you got to respect that, even if you don't care for his music.
If only he'd remembered to check the fuel guage before take-off.......

Somebody bought it for the opening bid.

If memory serves, he was flying a plane that somebody built and he didn't know where the switch was to change fuel tanks. That sound right?

We used to have block parties back then every Friday. When JD died, somebody asked me to do a JD tune then got pissed when I did Forest Lawn......

It was his plane and it was one of those expera-mental things. I had heard there was no switch for the tanks, they were just empty.

That was probably in better taste than doing "Leaving On A Jet Plane"
