It's a great guitar with all the abalone pearl stuuff and the amazin carved bride. Its a natural deep bowl. There's a crack that runs down the left side of the face. Doesnt effect the sound. original case incl.

email me for pictures.

Thanks

I just got the photo's and I have been headed off at the pass by my logical wife. She's, of course, "right". I just do not need any more guitars right now.
But I thought I would let this group know this is a great guitar! Photo's look fantastic and it is a good price too! Not sure what the shipping would be to the USA but some of you Englanders! Just might want to look at this one a little closer.

Thanks for the photo's and the offer

Randy

this is an excellent model.

however, from the picture in his gallery and the pictures he emailed, appears to be a major crack on the bass side of the bridge.

as previously posted, there is a lot the buyer can do to mitigate the crack but a full top refinish at the factory is not inexpensive (inexpensive for the magic they perform, but probably at least $350 plus shipping.)

Tony, what is the approximate cost of a total top replacement.....and under what circumstances would you do that? Does a full top refinish make cracks go away?

Kim or John would be the experts to ask...

No idea on a top replacement.

For a top refinish:

I had UPS damage to a 1658 CL slothead 12-str so I had the top taken down. However, the finish cracks were not into the wood and were not aged with oil, wax, dirt, etc. Cracks into the wood could still create the line. If not into the wood, believe that it would look new. Also, the finish is a little thinner than what was used ? prior to about five to ten years ago.

When? Guess when an insurance claim pays for it or when it bothers you.

Not every guitar needs a top refinished. I have guitars that look great with finish cracks. Heck, they aren't supposed to be new.

Other alternatives are seal, sand, and buff. I have taken out minor finish cracks. Larger finish cracks - hard to see, smooth, sealed. Screw it up? Kim's solution is Sear's green goblin latex paint applied with a roller. Perfect for Halloween or St. Patrick's day.

Last year, the 1658 cost me about $350 plus shipping to take the bridge & rosette off and the finish taken to bare wood. However, a major part of that cost is the replacement of an expensive Custom Legend rosette. Balladeer or Legend? Might be less.

If i was going to the US any time soon i'd probably drop by the factory and see what they could do but i'm not heading there soon, at least not this yr neway! The reason for sale is i want to buy i digitial piano and coz i think i've got way too many guitars! Although not that many compared to others like Randy...
