DB,

You have a very nice voice.

It's not too "slow or weird" at all. Carbon-copy covers are a dime-a-dozen, creative re-interpretations are much more impressive when done well, and you nailed it.

I also agree with the comments about the Crosby-esque sound. (That's a good thing, IMO.) The tuning you used gives it that feel.

Bravo.

I'm with Miles, Layla 1.0 should have remained untouched instead of unplugged. We're not alone; I recall reading a quote from Pete Townsend which I would paraphrase as "If I have to hear that *&$# skiffle-version of Layla one more time I will pull my hair out." (He must have heard it again, his hair is gone now…) ;)

PS: Dark Bar, what geetar is that and what tuning did you use?

I'll let db answer the tuning question, but that guitar used to be mine. It's a Larrivee LV09, and a fingerstylist's dream guitar (why did I get rid of it?).

db, you own that song now, GREAT interpretation.

I was gonna say it almost sounded like Dsus4 tuning, but that low E threw me off.

After we're done with the move & I have my new man cave/studio set up, you'll need to come up and we'll record it.

Well, it's not really EADGAD cause the guitar is already tuned 2 steps down, THEN the 1st and 2nd strings are dropped again. hehehe (can you say loose and jangley)
