Hi all, name is Jack and I just purchased an Ovation GC057. Let me give you a little background so you can better understand. I go into nursing homes and entertain. I have an Ibanez AEG10E, which is about the same price as the GC057, around the 300 dollar mark. The sound I get plugged in with the Ibanez is very good. Of course, it's always good to have a second guitar as a 'backup' and to switch off with. I wanted to try and stay within the 300 dollar mark and decided to purchase the GC057. It has a very different sound and I don't seem to be able to get the bottom sound from it that I do with the Ibanez. The Ibanez has a very clean and balanced sound with good bottom, middle, and top. The Ovation has a good clean sound, but not just good bottom punch. I have the same type of strings on both guitars and have tweaked the guitar EQ and my EQ pedal. Being a one man band, without a bass guitar, I need that bottom punch. I bought the guitar at Guitar Center, so I can take it back and exchange for something else within 30 days. I was considering pushing my budget up to 500.

My questions are this? Does anyone else have a GC057? Do you find to have the same problem? Would upgrading to a more expensive Ovation be a fix? Anyone? Thanks.
Jack

That being a Celeb, it has a laminate top. I think you'd do better finding a US made O. Maybe they have an Elite T. One of the best bang for the buck in the line.

Thanks Trader Jim. Do you think the laminate top could contribute to my bottom end problem? Love the signature by the way.

It'll say on the label. All the Celebs are overseas production.
