I got a GREAT deal on my Adamas. Still, I wondered about the cost of replacing the head/neck. I have good techs locally and can get the labor at a decent price. Anyone done this? cost for the wood?
I am happy with my hardware and would just swap it over. thanks.

Swap the neck ad head on an Adamas?!?!?

Ouch!

Sounds as though it should have been a custom shop job to begin with.

However, to tell the truth, I'm in agreement...these sitations DO arise from time to time. I have a beyond-beautiful custom 2080. I'd love to replace it's beautiful 1 and 11/16's neck with an even-more-beautiful and comfortable 1 and 7/8ths neck.

Gonna get a quote for that some day soon.

Bottom line: MINE should have been a custom shop job...but that's why we play 'em! To find out what works and what doesn't.

I got the 1597 for 600, so I am really happy with it as a player. I may not change out the head, but if my total investment stays under a grand I thing my cost to resale is still good.
This might be a chance to make it funky with somthing unique.

You would have to research this... But my Adamas has a bolt-on neck.
If you want a wider neck you can just buy a complete neck and bolt-it-on.
You would need the measurements of your bolt holes.
But if you got it from the factory, they would probably know what fits and what don't.
If you are just wanting a wider neck, a Folklore neck might work and would look nifty.

BTW-- Just cuz you got that 1597 for $600 does not mean that you can replace it for $600. :p

PS I may have made an assumption that was not really correct.
Why is it that you want to change the neck and the headstock?

OK, maybe I wasnt clear. When I say cost:resale, I mean that I paid 600. I believe if I invest 400 in upgrades, I can still get my 1000 out of it, at least recent sales seem to suggest it, especially since the rest of the guitar is pristine.

The neck on the 1597 I bought has a deep ding on the headstock. It certainly wasn't a deal killer for me, but I was just fishing for info in case someone has customized their neck in the past.

I didnt see a link to parts on Adamas' Custom Shop, so Im looking for a push in the right direction.

THanks all

You would have to contact the Factory...
Or maybe contact Al (alpep, Mister Big... Lost Art Vintage )
And then maybe you can arrange to purchase a neck.
But they generally don't have a Parts Catalog.
But you can buy individual Pre-amps (besides the iDea) and other stuff.
I have had the factory send me little parts.
So I am sure that if you contact them directly, or through a dealer, you can buy a neck.
How much it would cost... I don't know.
Would it be almost as cheap to send it in to the Factory to get it fixed... I don't know that either.

Smarter People will be along to help you shortly. :p

Got the neck replaced on my 1681 with a NOS at the factory. I wouldn't go anywhere else even for half the price.
