Now we all know that SWMBO puts unreasonable limits on things the number and quality of guitars that we have: "Why do you need another one? What's wrong with that one?" and so on.

Things are a bit more difficult when SWMBO regularly looks at credit card and bank statements, so even if she didn't notice the guitar, she'd notice the money.

For a while I've been unhappy with my 12 string celebrity, we haven't bonded at all. Probably unfairly, given the company it keeps. It's a CC245 - basically a black one of these:

Well a very generous benefactor (thanks again) has won one of these:
for me on Aussie Ebay and will let me pay it off from my pocket money (which is not audited). We're guessing SWMBO won't notice the difference. Of course there will be a tricky little in/out deal where I smuggle the new one in/old one out.

It worked for me. I replaced an Applause 12 with a Balladeer 12. Maybe it was just in the midst of buying so many guitars she got confused.

As long as the headstock and COLOUR are the same, she'll never notice. ...or just tell her you painted it black because that's a better stage colour.

Hey, I replaced a lawnmower with a Harley, kept it under a canvas cover in the garage, and it went unnoticed for about 8 months. Then, unfortunately, all hell broke loose.

Talk about off track! At least we were talking about guitars, but I still laughed.
As long as we're off, I replaced a tan Ford Fiesta with my first red Porsche, but it was with SWMBO's blessing and encouragement.

I just explaned the proposed "self-imposed" 1-in-1-out rule to her, after explaning I was reducing the herd from 12 to 8 first. Then while she was pondering how sacrificial and diplomatic I was, I transformed a collection of 12 medeocre guitars to 8 very nice ones. Then I continued to upgrade from that 8, so she has come to the point of acceptance and ignorance (:

I know ... That's devious, and I SHOULD be ashamed of myself, but if push came to shove and I needed cash, the guitars are a nice transferrable investment. She has seen a couple turn to cash before for funding a vacation trip to her parents house.

Hey ... at least I'm not collecting sportscars or recreational toys.

Any tactics on how to get the guitar in/out without SWMBO noticing? I think I need an accomplice.

You'd be the best possible distraction walking in with a few case, leaving with a few cases.

You already have blood on your hands!

Why? Go to the closet and get a pair of big boy pants. Be. A. Man. Do the right thing.

My wife is my best friend so I wouldn't try to put one over on her plus she's a musician and would notice if I swapped in the HD28 that I want. As for cars, I been road racing all my life and she has never once said anything negative about it so I think that's pretty cool.

My wife is really cool about stuff like that, I asked her if I could buy a particular guitar from a member here when I get back and she was like, "Of course! You never buy anything for yourself."
I've got me a good one.
Besides, she doesn't want me to put my foot down and tell her to go make me a sammich!

The best thing is to say: Man, my drug addict friend "fill in the blank" needed some funds so I bought his "fill in the blank." works like a charm.
