Hi, who can tell me something about the sound of that guitar? They are really beauty and perhaps I'd go to buy one. There are still some of them on the market.

Hi bernie! I have one and I love it! It has a very nice even tone, and plays really smooth. The KOA is absolutely stunning. Pictures will never due justice to the guitar's beauty. When plugged in she really shines with that OpPro Studio preamp. Al gave me a really great deal on mine, and he may be able to still get you one if you check with him. I think if ANYONE can get you a nice one, he can. I also bought some of Paul Templeman's amber tuners and put them on mine in place of the MOP ones. They look like honey, and match up really well with beauty of the KOA. If you get one you won't be disappointed.

By the way ... I was JUST looking at photos of my daughter and her family across the river from you in Weisbaden during the Christmas festivities. I was mentioning to my wife about you being there and also on the OFC, and what a small world it is.

I would agree that this 2009 KOA is quite special. The flame in all I have seen is 3D and never comes out in the pictures. Snag one while you can. They are quite comfortable with the contour back (and project well). Good Luck, let us know how it all turns out.

Personally, I would check out the extremely limited and even more rare LAV KOA Limited Edition.

Hi Bernie! You will LOVE the guitar. It has a wonderful neck and is everything bvince says it is and more ... he's right ... photos don't do it justice. The tortoise shell and abalone combination and that Celtic knot design on the fretboard and rosette is just beautiful. If you like, you can see some photos of my #10 by clicking ~>here~> 2009 Collector\'s #10 .

Another thing to consider is that the 2009 might be the last "Collector's" ever made! Ya never know! I say, "Go for it"!

Hey, Vince, how about a photo of yours showing the amber tuners? That must look gorgeous, and I'd really love it if you could post a pic or two.

Paul ... do you have anymore of the honey colored amber tuners? If you do, could you please PM me with the info and photos? I'd love to see what they look like.

;)

I'll try and get some pics to you as soon as possible. Tonight is my monthly commission meeting and I have a big report to complete before then, so it will probably be tomorrow before I can get to it.

Thank's Willa and Bryan.
I can catch one in Germany very cheap, the owner is in need of money. It's No. 120 and a very nice one. It was offered at ebay Germany, but wasn't sold for the price he wantet for. Now I have made an offer to him and he has said "YES"!!!(Yippiieehh)
On O'S homepage you can read that it has a nutwidth of 1 7/8", is that right?

Thanks again for your explanations(?)

Bryan, I was also thinking about you and your daughter in Wiesbaden on Christmas, weather you would visit her in Germany. But later I've seen that you are posting a lot of threads here on the board so you must be at home.
If someone visit Germany in the Rhein-Main-Area,
please let me know and have some fun together.

Bernie

It is really a fine guitar...I have three of them, to include #01 (thanks to one of Al's weaker moments when he sold me 01 and the rest of his inventory).

Anyone wants to compare, I plan to have 01 at Moody's this Thursday. Might even change the original strings as they are at least 12 months old...

When I bought a Martin Koa back in 1980, I realized that the Koa takes a little longer to 'open' up...this was true of my '06C and these...have patience, initially it feels 'tight', give it some playing time, you will be rewarded

Hi Bernie
I bought one 5 months ago and wrote some impressions in this thread:

The KOA collector is a beautiful guitar with a distinctive sound and character. The neck is slightly bigger than usual but it fits just right for me. Altogether its a classy guitar that is worth its price. Hope you get the guitar soon - enjoy!

Greetings from a winterly Switzerland

Hi Guy's,
after so much good words for that guitar, I have to go to snag that one. Is the neck really a bit wider than usual?
It would be the hammer, because I love widenecks.
When the deal is perfect and the guitar by me, i'll post some pics of it.

Let's do it and have fun!!
