Location: Louisiana | Hi all; this is my first post, and I will soon be the owner of some sort of Ovation guitar. My own (self-imposed) options are limited, but I have a broad general question about the assorted Ovation bracing patterns.
So far, I've seen the following listed: Scalloped LX, Scalloped “X” bracing, Ovation A Brace, Quintad, Quintad 12, Modified, Modified X, and Modified "A". I realize many of these differences may be to accommodate assorted soundholes and epaulets, but does anyone out there have enough experience with assorted models to describe any tonal differences associated with the different patterns? |

I guess it would be easier if you could express the specific qualities that YOU are looking for in a guitar i.e, specific look, tone and feel, and start from there. |

Location: Louisiana | Thanks for the replies. For myself, I'm looking for a super shallow model, with cutaway, and under $600. If purchasing a new model, I think (?) I'm looking at either a Celebrity or perhaps an Elite 1868 TX. If I get a used model, of course, my options should be less limited; my only concern there is a lack of warranty.
My question, however, was more one of simple curiousity than need; like I said, my own requirements/options are pretty narrow, and I was simply curious if anyone had experienced much tonal variation as a result of different bracing schemes between othewise similar models. |
