Thanks to the generosity of a member here, Brown delivered my daughters first guitar yesterday. She is only 7 and her hands are not quite big enough to be able to form chords as yet, but she is thrilled to have this Daisy Rock Girls guitar to play around with and learn to respect and take care of her instruments.
I know she would not want me to make a fuss but WJ, thanks from all of us here in Christina's family: you have made my daughter very happy indeed. I gave her a guitar stand and she has it sitting in her bedroom corner where the guitar rests when the included pink w/snowflake strap is not around her neck holding the guitar while she plays it.
When she grows older. she will certainly have her pick of some great instruments but for now this is perfect and her favorite color: pink w/sparkles.

I understand several of our ladies were in on this and discussed it so my thanks includes you all. Here is the happy new owner w/ her first guitar:

BTW, this got me thinking...anyone have pictures of their first guitar? I'll start: here's Mothers worry w/ a Kent Electric from 1965 (yeah, that's right: you do the math):

Hello Mike,
What a nice family we have here at OFC. Your daughter looks very pretty, you have taken a nice portrait. Well centered and good exposure.

And that photo is priceless....

I don't have a photo from 1975 when I had my first guitar, that beater Guild...
But I do have a photo of the first guitar that I actually bought! (30 years later)

excellent, mike and wj! now i'm going to have to get my daughters some daisy rock guitars...

here's me and my first guitar. (1970) anybody remember "decca" guitars and amps? made in japan but i believe connected to the decca recording label somehow. plaid hip-hugger bell bottoms were the thing in manly wear then.

Very cool.
Can your daughter cope with steel strings at such a young age? Nylon is the traditional route to go with hands that small and fingers that tender. My son started on a short scale classical at 7 and still took several weeks before he stopped hurting.
Maybe kids are tougher in VA.

I don't envy what you'll be going through in about 10 years. She's a doll. Make sure you warn her about musicians. ;)

Schroeder, so far she seems to handle it ok...I learned on a neighbors Silvertone acoustic w/black diamond strings...horrid and my fingers hurt like crazy but I kept practicing and learned...I doubt that we're any tougher here than in London but again, the will to play is a powerful persuasion. Supporting family certainly helps as well...mine were not all that supportive but I was a rebellious dude and ignored the negative...

OMA, they are not a bad guitar: quality is better than many I have seen, it stays in tune, sound is not too bad at all: I played it for her last night and actually had fun with it...perfect for a first!

Randy, that pic takes me back; I am sure I have one similar somewhere: probably at my Moms...

+10 to THAT, but with that beautiful face, I suspect SHE might end up being the heart breaker. She is BEAUTIFUL. Watch out Taylor Swift!!

That's really sweet, you sure you didn't buy that one for you?
HA HA HA HA
She's definately gonna have some nice gits to play on later.

Oh yeah, check your p.m.s

I still have my first guitar, it's a little old welfare nylon string thing that is sitting under my Son's bed, the brand name escapes me.
My Aunt bought it for me at Melody Music in Vero Beach, FL, the same store I bought two of my O's from years later.
I will post some photos of it on my ning page once I get home.
My first real guitar of course is my 68 DB my Dad gave me a year before he was killed (everybody has heard the story) and it is my most prized possession, gotta wait till I get back to post picks of it and the 12 CL.

This was a really neat post Mike, brings back good memories, thank you!
