I just purchased my very first Ovation, an early 70's cream Viper with maple neck and a white pickguard with a black edge. It's missing the truss rod cover, and I was wondering where I could find a replacement for it. I've been searching all over the internet for one, but I haven't found once that seems to be the correct shape yet. It looks like G Man replaced the truss rod cover on the VIper he's selling with a pearloid one in the correct shape to match his pickguard, so I'm guessing they're available somewhere. I would prefer to find a cover that matched my stock pickguard, but help finding any one that fits would be appreciated.

Hi Noah, and welcome. I noticed your post this morning but didn't respond because I don't have an answer for you, but I promise, someone will be along shortly who will be able to help you. By posting this response I have just sent YOUR post to the top of the board where they will notice it. I promise, we're not ignoring you, we're all just still recovering from Christmas, snowstorms, and who knows what else. Anyway, now that you have your first Ovation, stick around. And if you want to hang on to your money, DON'T click on the "For Sale" section or you'll end up like me, owning ten Ovations! :D

Welcome! Maybe Woody would have one or you could try John Budny or Kim Keller at the factory.

Well of course we can help the new kid out!
Right after we make him post some pictures :D

So you need a Viper TRC in the White with Black edge and three screwholes.?
There are basically two sizes, short and longer. Then there are the LX and VXT style but what you need is the Longer TRC in White.

Nobody makes them for resale but I can cut one out of some Pickguard blank. I would first check with John or Kim at Customer Service for the real deal if any are around.

John, Kim and factory folks will be out until Jan. 4th so don't fret if you don't get a response immediately.

So the deal on the Viper I thought I had bought just fell through… someone offered them more money at the last minute and stole it out from under me. So I guess I won't need that white TRC after all, but thanks for everyones help. I am still in the market for a Viper though, so if anyone knows about one or has one they're looking to sell I'd be very interested. It doesn't have to be in mint condition or anything, I'm looking for a player.

A kid came into the shop the other day and said his friend had a Viper he might be interested in selling. Now that doesn't mean it'll happen, but if it does, I'll let you know right away.
