Location: Miami | Howdy all. My favorite git (my lusty red 1778T :o ) has developed a buzz on the high E string even when I raise the action with a truss adjustment (no shims are removed). I assume this is due to a worn down slot in the nut or bridge. Does this sound right?
If so, who would be the appropriate repair person? Myself? Any luthier? The mothership?
Thanks! |

Have you checked the height of the strings at the nut?
What neck relief do you have?

Location: Brisbane Australia | So if you fret it up the deck at what fret does it stop buzzing?
If you fret the string between the second and third how much clearance do you have at the first?
We have to start somewhere

Location: Location Location Location | Find a good guitar tech in your area. They can pinpoint a problem like that in minutes. Can really be one of many things. Loose fret, uneven fret, bad string.
A good guitar guy will raise the bar on what you come to expect from your guitar; and generally an annual visit, or so, will take care of a lot of ills, including normal climate variations. |

Location: Miami | It stops buzzing right at the first fret. It's only when it's open that it buzzes. I'll take it to a guitar guy that I know. Aussie, I'll check that out tonight.
Thanks, guys! |

Location: Upper Left USA | You can fill the Nut slot with either a Porcelin repair or Nail Polish and then refile the groove. Most likely the groove is too wide on the FB side.
Getting to know your Tech is a must! |
