Location: Jet City | My favorite era for the Legend was when they had a hand laid fiberglass bowl, an A-Braced top, and pre K-Bar. This special run for their 10th Anniversary was pretty unique. It had a carved bridge and truss rod cover like a 1619 Custom Legend, but instead of the flashy abalone bling, they went with a Herringbone binding, with a Herringbone pattern in the rosette as well. The fretboard was also identical to a Custom Legend, ivory bound ebony with the mustache end, but had a snowflake type inlay scheme instead of the diamonds. The headstock, and the veneers on the headstock and heel cap, were like how the 1537 and Adamas II ended up... 3 layers of ebony, maple, and walnut, on the face of the headstock and heel cap with the Ovation Logo in mother of pearl and ebony. This is one of my all time favorite Ovation models...

Location: Maine | Most beautiful ! One of my favorites too. I regret selling mine a few years ago, it was rough around the edges,.. but it also funded an FD14. Mine was a 1657-4, but actaully had the CL abolone below the Anniv. rosettes. I had assumed they were all that way. Not so.
I've seen this tinted top model with red in the rosette too. TJR |
