I'd like to see Ovation incorporate a Snarky-like Tuner into the body or Headstock of their guitars. In this way, you wouldn't need to plug in your guitar to use the on-board Tuner. That would be soooo much nicer. I'm sure I'm not the first to think of this, so they better hurry!

I don't need to plug in to use my on-board tuner (OP Pro) but do I need to buy a clip-on anyway because the on-board tuner is woefully inaccurate.

I find it amazing at how little tuning I have to do with the remaining guitars I have. Even though I DO play them a lot. A except for the Taylor that is, I have to tune that one a lot.

On my Elite the OP Pro tuner seems dead-on. I'll tune it up in no time then play along others or play along with a recording and NEVER had a problem. It is incredibly fast and doesnt react to the ambient noise. Ive never had a clip on tuner but wonder if they are more temperemental to environmental interference. I also have used the tuners on both amps and my effects pedal. I think the built in tuner beats them all for speed and accuracy. JMO.

My OP Pro's tuner is a dud. Always has been. Terribly inaccurate. I must've got a lemon.
I do a better job tuning it by ear, but mainly use my 20 year old Korg to get it bang on.
I'd ask Ovation for a replacement, but as my '05 is an FRG, it's no longer under warranty.

Muzz is both very fussy about tuning and very good at doing it by ear. If I tune by ear, my practice time is over before I get the guitar right. I have an app on my iPhone (Cleartune) that seems to do a better job than the VIP. The VIP gets pretty good, but Cleartune can get it bang on.

I can quickly and easily tune the 6 strings together by ear without using harmonics or playing the 5th fret or whatnot, but I never know if I start out perfectly in E or not

The ceiling fan seems to effect my tuners. When I turn it off they're dead-on. So I never tune near a ceiling fan.

I use Guitar Toolkit on my iPad/iPhone. The tuner is awesome on it... Great app!

I also have a good tuning app, but they're hard to use in a noisy room. As TANKAN says, I can tune accurately by ear, but again, difficult in a loud room.

I've completely given up on my OP Pro's on-board tuner and have ordered a Gogo clip-on - they're getting really good reviews.

The letter display went south on my Op-Pro Studio. I had a Snark I used for my Martins and simply clipped that on the Ovie.

I have a Korg, an Intellitouch, a Profile, and a Snark. They all tune to the same pitch. I like the Snark for it's speed and price.
