Location: Raleigh, NC | I have decided on my next restring to locate the battery back to where it belongs - fastened to the waist area retainer screw. The original owner had glued the metal battery retainer plate with wiring (without the box assembly), to the single knob preamp body - for some reason. It all works fine electronically, but the original battery retainer screw sometimes rattles - it is just sitting there loose in the upper bout. I have put up with the rattle for long enough, and it seems this would be a simple fix. Based on the archival information, there was a battery box with a rubber mount that had a door that slides open for battery access, and a few grommets/washers that held it in place by the waist screw. A 1/4 turn of this screw was how the box was was locked and released for battery change. I dont have any of this hardware - just the original battery plate that has clip holders for the battery. Maybe back in the day, players eliminated the box and relocated the battery to the side of the preamp for some good reason. Does anyone know what all I need to do, and how I should go about getting the parts? Any and all help appreciated! Matt |
