Location: Sunshine State, Australia | I can only speak for iPhone apps, but these days they're all pretty accurate. My absolute favourite, TuneUp by Planet Waves, is so good they've pulled it from the apple store. I reckon it was impacting their hardware sales. i couldn't find it in the AppStore, but I found it on the D'Addario site. BUT if you click the link, it takes you to the AppStore to a blank page. A lot of them are free or dirt cheap. Try a few until you find one YOU like. |

Location: closely held secret | Pitchlab for android is very cool. Accurate as far as I can tell.
Lots of presets (bouzouki!) and you can create your own. 8 different display styles.
Oh, and it's free.

Location: Sunshine State, Australia | I searched for "strobe tuner" and nothing came up. My new phone is Android. (I wish someone would make a smart phone with all the best bits of iPhone and the best bits of Android. I'm liking the android, but iPhone does some things better.) |

You never know when you're gonna pick up a guitar that's not properly tuned. i used to be able to tune a guitar to concert pitch by ear, but that skill seems to have abandoned my ageing ears. Location: Thredbo, NSW, Australia | I use G-strings on Android, and have compared it to my other tuners and have found it accurate.
For tuning during a gig or jamming, I need my Snark 8 as using the phone just doesn't work - unless I go for a walk.
The good thing about the phone is that I always have it with me, so if I get a chance to play someone's out of tune guitar, I can tune it.
