That looks like the varnish is coming off. By itself that's not a problem, but the location makes me wonder whether the bridge is starting to lift off. Is there any gap between the bridge and the top? If yes, loosen the strings and take it to a good luthier or the Ovation repair shop before the bridge comes off in spectacular fashion.

There is no visible gap under the bridge. I'll find a luthier in Boston or I'll contact the shop in Ct.

Thanks for your time and opinion.

There won't be a gap under the bridge as the lacquer is still attached to the underside of the bridge. The 'gap' has formed between the lacquer and the timber.  That bridge is starting to lift.

I wouldn't be tuning it to Open E anytime soon.

Get it to a luthier ASAP
