Joined: July 2015 Posts: 190 Location: SW Mintsoda | Why is it that Murphy's Law kicks in every time I'm expecting a guitar delivery? I've got an Ovation coming today...UPS always delivers late in the day (my estimated delivery time is between 4-7 pm), and I have to be gone then (setting up for a gig tonight)! My wife is also leaving about that time (with friends to come to the gig). Aaaarrrgghh!!! This seems to happen about every other time I'm expecting a "big" package! Anyone else experience Murphy's Law this way? (Gratuitous pics of the incoming '92 Legend L717) ![]() ![]()

If it is coming UPS, you can change the date of delivery on line, it will cost you $5, but 2 weeks ago I was going to be at the airport picking up birds, and knew that I would have to sign for the Guitar. It was worth changing the date to get it delivered the next day! Do you have a neighbor or close relative that can sign for it, and put it in your house? BTW, GORGEOUS Legend, Congratulations!! ![]()

I knew you could change delivery, etc. but I wanted to have the guitar over the weekend. Cleaned it up, plays pretty well (removed a shim). I'm going to cut a new nut for it today...I want as much space between the strings as I can get (I'm used to 1 3/4" nuts). But the guitar is in great shape and sounds very good, including plugged in. I'm a pretty happy camper with sore fingers! Edited by 360Ovation 2015-08-01 3:06 PM

I don't know why, but playing an Ovation always makes me want to do some Glen Campbell stuff...like this tune: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P6SuVCQ5-p8 ;^)

I got up at 5 this morning wondering where our Ghost On the Canvas CD was. Then I was looking for Grow Old With Me on our Campbell and Mary Chapin Carpenter cds. I couldn't find any of them. I have to disagree with Bobbo a little. Although I really like Ghost, "I'm Not Gonna Miss You" on the "I'll Be Me" soundtrack may be his best work, considering how close to the heart it hits. We're leaving on a little trip tonight and I think I'll load up the car with GC cds.

Several I never would have considered learning (like the Green Day tune, which my daughter LOVES to play and sing with me), so it's broadened my song list. I wasn't that crazy about "Ghost" when I got it ... need to spin it again and give it another chance maybe. P.S. I don't mind at all if this thread veers off in this direction ...

I like to repeat it. I like the sentiment of his last few songs. They just seem so personal. His daughter does one on the I'll Be Me album that really hits home, too.

I think that Glen is at his prime here...more (tasty) mature as a musician, more confident as vocalist and overall performer. Although, I could sit and watch the Goodtime hour all day...especially the sit down part with Jerry. A good part of players in their "prime" wouldnt be able to do what GLen did with full blown ALZ. He may have not known the words to Gentle, but he could still blister the fretboard.
