Let's see what you got!

Actually, I have the newest Ovation out there, but I wanted to get one of the Oldest too, I swore "NO MORE!!! NO MORE GUITARS!!!" but we all know how that goes. And this was screaming at me to bring her home the second it popped up on my screen!

So many Thanks to Grand Master Savage, who gave her a visual inspection, and glowing report, this "Old Babe", a 1968 Deluxe Balladeer, is coming home to the NanCave, and will round out my Collection! I am just thrilled, you all speak so highly of their sound, and I can't wait to hear it! New Strings, a Spa Day, Buff her bottom, a Day of Rest, then back to work!

I think I am out of GAS now... whew!

I wouldn't make a very good nun, I don't feel very repentant for breaking my vows ...

LOL!!!!! I know!!!! You would not believe how hard I was laughing about that last night Mark - I just can't stop myself, all good intentions fly right out the window!! LOL!!! I believe that it did not last an entire day.... Can we form a Group for GAS-aholics, that cannot stop themselves, and who aren't really ashamed of themselves the way they *should* be????

I need someone to physically block me from eBay, Reverb, Google, and any searches with Ovation, Adamas, Roundback in the Search Field!

Darkbar... sooooo many images going through my mind right now, none of them all that pleasant! LOL!!!!!

What does the "B" Stand for in the B-330??? I see that there are straight numbers like Damon's, and then the A/B/C series with numbers. Does anyone know the difference with the Alpha characters??

Location: Muenster/Germany		...and still no 12 string. This is unacceptable.Did you ever play a 1688? There is always a new dimension of GAS...and phantastic new alibis like:
This one perfectly matches my 1687....or: I was always looking for a 12string for DADGAD tuning only or: I need a 12fret 12string because it´s better for fingerstyle or: the 12string model of this series is a very rare guitar, I bought it just as an investment or: the 1688-95 has obviously more bass than the 1688-89, this one might be better for studio recordings or: I wanted to transform this guitar to an acoustic only or: this 12string custom legend has little fretwear, so I won´t use it for recordings but it will a be a good campfire guitar so that I can leave my good one at home.
See what I mean?

Location: Boise, Idaho		Nancy isn't married, so she only has to convince herself, which might be difficult. We did a list of rationalizations a few years ago and yes, a 12 string was one of the easiest to justify. I only have one and it is rarely used, so I can't even convince myself that I need another. But if any of those 6 Ute 12 strings that Al custom ordered ever came up for sale, I might be convinced. My shiny bowl GAS was satisfied by the K1111 reissue. That's a marvelous guitar that was way underpriced.

Nancy...at some point in 68, Ovation abandoned the numerical and went to alpha numerical. They ran the A### series until Novemberish and then transitioned to B###. That’s all. I am pretty sure there are no shiny's with beginning with C... but I do keep a nice helping of crow in the freezer, because it has become a staple lately.

No one, in the guitar world, was doing very good in serialization back then. I think Ovation probably did a better job than the big 2.

Congrats on getting a shiny bowl. She is a beaut. It is no secret that I feel that Ovation NAILED it with the first guitars...acoustically. There may be an exception that matches the acoustic response of the shiny's, but I don't think they ever improved acoustically...and I know that a hell of a lot of them didn’t match the acoustic quality that the first ones possessed.

I will be interested, since you have quite a few in your possession, in what your take is.

Indeed it was an old beat up 12 string Ovation that I played in a music store in Nashville in the early 90s that totally captivated me, unfortunately the asking price was way too high and it took almost 10 years to finally get a 12 string Balladeer which I played exclusively for another 10 years and got me hooked on Ovation. It was only in the last year that I branched out to six-stringers ... and yeah I don't have GAS but a 1688 or a 12 fret custom legend 12 string, or a 12 string UTE would certainly peak my interest.

I tend to like the sound of the older ones the Best, so I am really interested to see how this compares to my 70's Custom Balladeers and Custom Legends. This will be the Oldest one I have, and I am really excited to have her join the Family!

LOL!!!!! You are correct!!!

I did try DetlefMichel!!! There was The Most Beautiful 1976 Custom Legend 12 String on German Ebay, and I went after it full force, but someone had a bit more force than I did, and took it home! It was in Gorgeous Shape, absolutely Beautiful, first one I had ever seen for sale. I was already planning a lighted, oak, glassed in case for it, my 1976 1119 and 1619! Red Twins was gracious enough to translate the German for me, so that I could see what the ad said, and it was all praise. So I did try to bring home a 12 String!

And you have ruined me with those Thomastik-Infeld Plectrum strings, expensive, but Holy Buckets they are nice!!! I would like to try them on the 1687-2, and maybe the new BearClaw, so I just ordered a couple new sets!
