Did you know that Rhino Records released a remastered "The Traveling Wilburys Collection" yesterday? It includes Volume 1 and 3 and a DVD in a budget digipak plus there is also a limited numbered edition that includes the discs, hardbound book and paperwork all in a hard slipcase. Discs have been out of print for years and were very expensive collector's items for a long time.

Thanks. That's what I was going to suggest for Father's day, but I forgot what it was. Senile Father's Day, I guess.

No matter what the price, it's a bargain as the cds have been out of print for 10 years and commanded high prices for a long time. The deluxe numbered edition is very nice. (I admit I'm a collector). Go to Rhino's website to see the details. They also reissued vinyl. (I'm a big Rhino fan as well as Hip-O Select).

I'm still trying to figure out how the Wilbury's manage to release a volume 1 and 3, but no #2 ... Perhaps, an OFC member can share any available info about it?

I happen to have both albums in vinyl, and as we speak, it's collecting dust somewhere in my parents' basement or attic. I just have to make the time to travel to Syracuse and get it one of these days ...

You never heard TWO?!?!

It was waaay their best album. There was something about a Tipper Gore pact though. (lotta 'earthy' lyrics) Maybe it wasn't released in the states.

No offense, but I have no use for the Wandering Pillsbury's. I even find that odd, because I like most of the members works individually, except for Tom Sweaty form the Wind Breakers.

I actually thought the lack of an Album #2 was a marketing thing. I thought it was clever.

The short answer, according to Tom Petty, is George Harrison's Monty Python-esque sense of humor.

I have both cd's and enjoy the music quite a lot, individually and as a group. I would like to have the dvd, but can't see buying the package just to get it. Remember when (I believe it was Gretsch) came out with the electric with the Wilbury's image on the body? I thought it was kind of cool. Probably played bad, but I'm sure people bought it because of the look.

There's a great article/interview HERE.
The Wilburys are one of my favorites (sorry, Miles  ). Another shining example of George's greatness. The rest of the guys aren't too bad, either. Check out the videos too.

I never liked the band enough to go out and buy their product, but I enjoyed the videos. The idea was fresh, and it was a unique combination of gifted artists.... Well, some more gifted than others.

I thought they were brilliant. Just wonderful stuff. My personal fave song was the Dylan track "Skeeter and the Monkey Man". Best Dylan in years (at the time at least).

That was quite a time of creative energy in that circle: Tom Petty's Full Moon Fever, Harrison's Cloud Nine, the Wilburys stuff, and others.

We've been talking about adding "Handle With Care" to one of our sets. Great song. We just need someone who can do justice to the Roy Orbison vocals.

I think that might be Jeff Lynne with Custom Legend with Bigsby vibrato fitted.

....Travelling Wilbury's Vol 1 was the first CD I ever bought.

The Traveling Wilburys are almost there
