Now, the reason I ask, and yes, I need more medication, is that I am attempting to reproduce the peghead on an old 1615-4. BTW, does anybody out there have a detailed, measured diagram of the peghead? I could probably fake it, but having the factory specs would be good, too! I'm not trying to copy it exactly, but it's going to be a bear. I got the wood binding strips from stewmac. The hard part will be routing out the channel from the curved neck. | ||

Joined: January 2002 Posts: 14127 Location: 6 String Ranch | Doing inlay down the back might be pretty hard. How about just putting it on the road and let them paint lines down it? Seriously it's probably best to build it from scratch so you get the benefit of the strength ot the laminates. Also somewhere in the back of my mind there's a bell that's ringing and it says that some of the center stripes were also maple, just set 90* to the other two plys of maple. Gives you added strength. | ||
