Location: Simpsonville, SC | OK, like the rest of ya'll, I have been waiting on pics and clips from the Tour. I have certainly enjoyed and appreciate Waskel's posts, etc.
However, tonight, I went to lovely Downtown Greenville, SC and watched a three piece Jazz group perform in a small quaint setting. They couldn't have been paid much, but their love of what they were playing reminded me of why I want to play music. There could have been no one watching and it would not have made a difference to them. They were in there own zone, which made it that much more enjoyable to watch.
I know that my lack of skills (read none) as a musician will probably never allow me to experience this type of musician's zone, but I can sure love being an observer.
Is it just me, or do the rest of you appreciate this type of performance too? |

Location: Sunshine State, Australia | I've seen some average musicians put on an infectiously enjoyable performance due to their obvious enjoyment of what they were doing.
I've seen some excellent musicians that were as dull as and uninspiring.
I hope to emulate the former one day. |

Location: Waurika OK | I would really like to be part of a 2-3 person group. I need to be pushed to learn more.
Used to be part of a band, Leon and the Cowchips, our vocals and harmony was much better than our instrument playing. One death and one divorce put an end to that.
Recently had two guys that I jammed with on Friday nights, one moved and the other has been on Chemo and can't hold a pick or feel the strings.
Hmmm, maybe that's why I don't have someone to jam with, bad things happen to people who play music with me. |

Location: Keepin' It Weird in Portland, OR | Channel surfing last night, and on a local Public Access channel, there was a three-man band. Pretty good guitarist, too. Did not recognize any of their songs... No Vocals.
[No Layla, Hotel California or STH.]
Plus they played many different genres. Not just straight Blues or Rock, but alittle bit of both with some Country-twang thrown in for good measure.
These guys obviously were not being paid, but they were having a good time!

Other things I've been thinking about:
1) Starting a guitar club like Guitar League , but on a smaller scale.
2) Starting a free "beginning guitar for children" class for my community.
I suppose I could try number one, then get any interested parties to help with number two, as a sort of community service. I recently resigned from our church praise band, and I'd like to do something to keep sharp. |
