I would have to agree. I could almost live with the slothead, but even that is not too appealing.

That's not bad at all!

We used to have this contest every year at NAMM. one of the qualifications to retain the title was for the company to not be showing at the next show.
Bunker guitars won it one their last year. Hustler guitars were another.

It looks like! :D

Man, you got to have a very wild imagination to build something like that!

Alot of times I'll look at a guitar and think "what would I do differently to make it better?". For some reason, that never occurred to me.

That one is along the lines of a Maccaferri and Monteleone make about 1939. There was experimentation with sound holes to get the volume necessary to perform. Amplification made all of this mere history (sarcasm).

I have seen a lot more hideous, this one just mimics pieces from a bygone era.

Eventually Django played similar models although I don't know how out of control the soundhole got.

Believe it or not I actually got this info out of a book! "The Illustrated Directory of Guitars" edited by Ray Bonds.

BTW - Who was the one-yed female charater violed by Al Bundy's wife Peg in Futurama? (worth double points)

MWoody, the trivialist extraordinaire:

My first thought was, "Dayum, that looks like a Maccaferri. Who would think Django's guitar is ugly?" Then I thought, "Ice cream!"

Leela; voiced by Katey Sagal. I tried to like Futurama, but just couldn't. Family Guy is worse yet.

I thought there was something wrong with my monitor when I clicked on that picture. It looks like a wax model that was left out in the sun too long.

I think that that Gitanes (at the top of the thread is pretty cool! If y'notice that headstock has very similar lineage to the "Ute".

Remember, there are a LOTTA people out there who think Adamases are "ugly" . . .

actually, i was looking for videos featuring this guitar on youtube and i've found guy named Joscho Stephan who is playing on such Guitanes. And i have to say that this guitar sounds awesome.
if i hadn't bought a celeb, i'd probably go for this one.

It's that whole gypsy thing, I find it very interesting music and I like it very much, but have no desire to play it.

These bid D shaped holes are usually the rhythm instrument. The little oval holes are the ones used for lead. The guys do NOT switch back and forth during the night.
