Location: New Jersey / New York | I am the proud new owner of a new CUSTOM LEGEND 1719-30CM as well as a new member to this amazing site and I just have a few questions and was wondering if anyone could help me with them? Appears I am missing some of the paperwork that came with my guitar. It did come with the UPC tag on bottom of guitar w/ serial number however. I love the way this Ovation sounds but not sure what strings came on this guitar from the factory. Are they the D'Addario EXP16 (.012-.053) Phosphor Bronze strings or the Adamas 1818 (.012-.053) Phosphor Bronze? I’d like to know so I can purchase those exact strings that are on my guitar now. My 2nd question I have is that I noticed on the Ovation Custom Legends that the 14th fret is located right above the body/soundboard, whereas others are right where the body/soundboard meet, is this normal? I thought it would be the exact same positioning on all the guitars, not sure how there can be inconsistencies. My 14th fret is located right where the body/soundboard meet. Another question I have is that the triangular part (black piece) of the heel of the neck where is meets the bowl of the guitar appears to have what looks like to be an air pocket/bubble, but it’s flat, nothing is raised. What has caused this cosmetic blemish? Has this occurred with anyone else’s Ovation?? And sometimes, depending on the chords I play, I’ll hear a slight buzz/vibration coming from what sounds to be inside the guitar, it’s not fret buzz or anything like that; maybe something is loose? And my final question is, was there a special sequence or six digit serial numbers for the CUSTOM LEGEND 1719-30CM. I thank you all in advance and appreciate any feedback I can get. I look forward to getting as many responses from my fellow Ovation users. |

Location: Tampa, FL | Strings: probably D'Addario. Definitive test. Are the Balls colored (easy boys). If so then D'A's otherwise, solid brass indicates 1818.
Gotta believe the 1719 is a 14 fret to the body instrument. Just gotta believe it.
Fret buzz inside is often attributable to wires imopportunely placed in the interior. tray a search on buzz. There are a number of other causes. My favorite being the tuner nuts.
Welcome aboard, meet the natives, don't drink the water, the hot air is pretty breathable. |

Location: SoCal | I have three, had a total of five...the strings are what I call "Christmas lights" (D'Addario). I do like the 1818's also.
The neck meets the body at the 14th fret as my other CL's, 1537, 2005 Coll, etc., etc.
On the five, didn't find any quality control issues. If this guitar has the warranty, I would discuss it with the factory.
As to the serial...6; currently have 578965, 579515, and 581789; used to have 577750 and 579013. Interesting part of this is that the guitar I bought 1/6/04 and shipped that week was 579515. There was no special numbering as there has been with some Collectors' such as 7/300.
Welcome. |
